Back To School

The Last week of August Brent headed back to school at DTS. This semester he is taking 12 hours and officially has switched his "track/s" to a Masters in Cross Cultural Ministries and a Masters in Christian Education. What does this mean? About 90 hours...so at least 3 more years! These tracks seemed to be a much better fit for what he was passionate about and hoping to do when we are done with seminary. He is excited to be back...has a TON of work to do...but LOVES what he is learning. And it is what we are here for!! So I am glad that he is back at it too!

And then, last Tuesday "Jackson Elementary" School was back in session! Drew started 2nd Grade and Sam started Kindergarten!! Lizzy started "pre" pre-school and as we say here, Abby started our "baby tots" program.:) The kids woke up to our tradition of a "back to school" gift outside of their bedroom door...

The kids were all so excited to start school so they could use their new school supplies. Both of the grandmas were here a couple of weeks ago and treated them to a bunch of new supplies. So here the students are in front of their school sign...

Our principal, Mr. Jackson, also got up really early the morning of our first day to make us this "Back to School" banner. He is always surprising us with something!

And Lizzy just cracked me up. She has quite the sense of style. She had on her new puppy shirt, her dress up Cinderella shoes, her new hello kitty back pack and topped it off with my Yankee's hat. I think I am going to start taking a picture of her each day before we leave the house so you can see for your self how good she is at accessorizing. It always makes me smile.

We had a good first week and I am looking forward to another great year at Jackson Elementary...but I am thinking I need to talk to the principal about a raise...:-)

What a fun first day of school! You all look so good esp. Lizzy in the yankee cap! It's great that Brent has his direction picked out and we will pray that he has a good year as he balances each area of his life. As for the raise for you Jaci- well,I do believe hope reigns eternal! We will pray for a good year of learning and growing for the boys and girls. Thanks for sharing the day with us. Love, Mom

I'm so glad Lizzy provided a great smile...way to let her be her! What an encouragement Brent's sign must've been....our principal wrote a letter to the girls too....I'm not sure if the sentiment made me cry of if it was because the lazy, ice-cream lickin' days of summer were over. I agree with your mom....your wealth is in ways immeasurable here on earth. Thanks for making me smile! May you have a year filled with grace, PATIENCE and LAUGHTER!!!

Love,
Kristin

What wonderful, fun pictures of the beginning of your journey this year!! I too loved Brent's (aka, "principal") sign...how encouraging and wonderful to have such a supportive hubby through this all!

I hope and pray that your year goes well...you are a WONDERFUL Mama and teacher to your kiddos, Jaci! They are blessed to have you!

The pictures of Lizzy with a backpack on are just priceless - how can she be that big already??? How neat to hear about Brent's decision to pursue Christian Education and Cross Cultural Ministries...does he anticipate that he will be doing some sort of teaching down the line? This is exciting for all of you...I will be praying for strength and endurance over these next three years of schooling - and for a wonderful start to your new school year. How is it going???? :-)
